Selecting an Age Verifier

GLOSSARY OF TERMS:

1. DL: Driver's License
2. BC: Barcode scanner, imager, or encoding method
3. MS: Magnetic Stripe Reader, or encoded method
4. CCD: Charged Coupled Device (CCD Barcode Scanner)
5. PORTABLE: Hand-held (mobile) device used inside, or outside an establishment.
6. COUNTERTOP: Used on a ‘work surface’, such as a counter, podium, near a cash register, or PC, etc.
7. STORAGE: Has the ability to capture data in memory, or a database file for transmission to a PC later.
8. OTHER BC TYPES Has the ability to read other bar code symbologies such as UPC - for POS applications.
9. DIRECT PC ATTACHMENT: Model that attach directly to a PC’s Serial, or USB Port.
10. PALM STRAP: An elastic hand-strap for Models 2000PM/1, and 2000PMB-2, that allows ease during mobile usage.
11. WB: Wristband Printers, and thermal wristbands, for Models 2000PMB-2 and 2000PMB-4 only. (D= Dispenser)

PC MODELS:

Age Verifier - PC/RS232 Serial Models include DB9F-RS232 Cable, Power Adaptor.
Our Item # 26886 - RS232 to USB Cable Adaptor is optional.
Age Verifier – PC/USB Models include a USB cable, obtain power from PC - USB Port, and do include a Power Adaptor.
All PC Models also include a CD-R that contains a Software User’s Guide product specifications, Logo signs,
PC Age Verifier Software, and other documents. Hands-Free Stand included with PDF-417 Barcode Imager Age Verifier Model 2000B/I-D432.

PORTABLE MODELS:

Age Verifier - Portable Models include a RS232 Cable, and a Power Adaptor. Our Item # 26886 – RS232 to USB Adaptor is optional. The portable’s power adaptor provides continuous power during counter-top usage, and keeps it *trickle-charged. *When the power adaptor is un-plugged, after a period of counter-top usage; the Age Verifier will only stay charged for a couple hours, if you begin using it in a portable mode. To fully-charge the Age Verifier for portable applications, you must turn the power off while charging. (See manual for details). Palm Straps are optional.

WRISTBAND PRINTERS:

We offer custom STI/Datamax Desktop (low-volume), and Industrial (high-volume) Barcode Printers to print ‘Age-Verified Wristbands.’ The printers include a Pre-configured - custom program> External wristband dispenser is optional. Order rolls of thermal wristbands separately.

RECEIPT PRINTERS:

We offer a receipt printer that prints a log of the most important ID Data, that our 2000PMB collects, in real-time or from memory.

TERMS OF USE:

When you purchase one of our Age Verifiers for direct attachment to a PC, we provide our Windows® - Based PC-Resident Software Program. Our program accepts data from 'Three-Track Magnetic Stripe Card Readers and PDF-417 Barcode Imagers or CCDs. Your hardware should be capable of adequately reading the approximately 350 different formats of Driver's Licenses/IDs in the US and Canada, as well as other types of cards and coupons.

PCAV.exe performs the Age Verification functions and stores the data in a variety of files for other uses.

If you already have a 3-Track Magnetic Stripe Reader and/or a PDF-417 Bar Code Imager or CCD, and you believe they can read all magstripe and barcode data well, we offer our PCAV.exe Program for installation on your PC.

Note: The PC must be running under Microsoft® Windows® 98 OS or higher.

This program cannot be successfully copied. Each copy must be serialized and registered by Scan Technology, Inc. within 30 days of installation.

At the end of 30 days, if not registered, the program will cease to function. We do not offer extensions to this term.

We have thoroughly tested all major manufacture's scanners and readers with our Software. Based on our extensive testing, we highly recommend the Age Verification Products we offer.

If, in your opinion, you believe the Three-Track Magnetic Stripe Card Readers and/or PDF-417 Barcode Scanners you use read all formats well, we suggest you purchase our software for testing. We also suggest you not register the software until you are certain your hardware performs well. *Note: We do not offer refunds on registered software.

If you find your readers do not read well enough, and you do not want to purchase our hardware, simply let your software copy's thirty-day registration period lapse and we will refund your cost. Alternatively, simply order one of our scanners or readers for delivery within this 30-Day period, test the system, and if it reads to your satisfaction, and then contact us to register your software. Remember, regardless whether you purchase any of our PC Model Age Verifiers, which include the PCAV.exe Software, or you purchase our Software only, once it's registered we do not offer refunds on the hardware or software.

AGE VERIFIER PRODUCTS WARRANTY POLICY:

1. This policy may not be altered or amended in any manner, and buyer by accepting delivery of the good described herein accepts and agrees to abide by the terms and conditions herein.
2. The ownership of all products sold and shipped from Scan Technology remains with Scan Technology until all payments from the customer are cleared through Scan Technology's bank.
3. No warranty will be provided for physically damaged items, which have cracks, missing pins, burn marks or other physical damage. Any items damaged by power surges, floods, brownouts, blackouts, or other natural disasters are not covered by the warranty.
4. Warranty on any products found to be abused, mishandled, modified, or altered will be void.
5. Removal of Identification labels or serial # voids all warranties and the products will not be accepted for return.
6. Warranty begins on the original shipment/invoice date.
7. Items under warranty that are returned for warranty replacement must be received by our RMA department with an RMA issued prior to the expiration of the warranty period for a replacement to be issued.
8. If a replacement is not available, Scan Technology reserves the right to replace the product with similar products of equal or greater value that provides the same functions to the customer. Scan Technology also reserves the right to repair the product(s).
9. Other than the aforementioned limited manufacturer's warranty, there are no warranties, expressed or implied, which extend beyond the description of the face hereof, including any warranties of fitness for a particular purpose and merchantability.
10. All products, after the warranty period, may be repaired with a reasonable service charge, provided that the product is repairable.
11. Scan Technology accepts no liability with respect to any data contained in any product returned to Scan Technology for warranty replacement or repair.

AGE VERIFIER PRODUCTS WARRANTY PERIODS:

• 2000P/M-1: 1-Year Warranty on electronics. Head wear not included.
• 2000PMB-2: 2-Year Warranty on electronics. Head wear not included.
• 2000PMB-3: 2-Year Warranty on electronics. Head wear not included.
  A 3-Year Extended Warranty for Imager only is a $30.00 additional cost.
• 2000PMB-4: 1-Year Warranty on electronics. Head wear not included.
  A 4-Year Warranty is available for an additional $40.00 per unit for Slot Imager only.
• 2000E-5/1&2: 1-Year Warranty. A 4-Year warranty is available for an additional $40.00 per unit.
• 2000E-6/1&2: 1-Year Warranty. A 4-Year warranty is available for an additional $40.00 per unit.
• 2000MI/3: 3-Year Warranty on electronics. Head wear not included.
• 2000B/I: 5-Year Warranty on PDF-417 Imager for PC.
• 8210 & 8210B/I: 1-Year Warranty on this PDF-417 CCD Barcode Scanner.
• DS6608: 5-Year Warranty on PDF-417 Imager for 2000PMB-2 & 2000PMB-3.
• TSP613D: 3-Year Warranty for parts and 1-Year for labor from the original date of purchase by the original end user only. The warranty coverage for auto-cutter assemblies and print heads is one-year parts and labor. This warranty shall apply only if such original purchase by the end user was made in the United States or Canada and product is used in the United States or Canada. This warranty is not transferable.
